Amazon has launched Alexa+, a new AI‑powered chat experience that brings Alexa directly into the web browser at alexa.amazon.com, while also connecting seamlessly with Echo, Fire TV, and Fire tablets. This upgrade focuses on richer conversations, cross‑device continuity, and planning and productivity features that go beyond the classic voice assistant.

What Is Alexa+ on the Web?

Alexa+ is an AI chat interface you can access in your browser, designed to feel more like an intelligent assistant than a simple voice helper. It lets you type to Alexa, keep long conversations going, and sync context with compatible Alexa devices in your home.

• Runs at alexa.amazon.com in a standard web browser.

• Works alongside your existing Echo, Fire TV, and Fire tablets once Alexa+ is enabled.

• Keeps the conversation context when you move between browser and devices, so you can “pick up where you left off.”

Key Features and Use Cases

Alexa+ is built to help with deeper planning, research, and everyday tasks directly from your browser. Instead of just answering one‑off questions, it can organize information and turn it into actions.

• All‑in‑one planning: Generate event ideas, create checklists, and draft invitations for parties, trips, and projects in a single chat thread.

• Discover and do: Ask questions on any topic, then let Alexa+ convert that knowledge into actions like scheduling, meal‑planning, or booking services where supported.

• Context continuity: The assistant remembers the ongoing topic across your browser and compatible devices, so you do not need to repeat “Alexa” or re‑explain your request when you see the blue light.

Device Compatibility and Limitations

Alexa+ is rolling out as an Early Access experience and is available only on specific devices and configurations. Some older hardware and child profiles still use the original Alexa experience.

1. Compatible devices:

• Most Echo devices (excluding older first‑generation models like Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st/2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen).

• Selected Fire TV devices such as Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen), and Fire TV Omni and 2‑Series models, plus supported Panasonic and Hisense TVs.

• Fire tablets on Fire OS 8 or higher, including recent Fire HD 8/10 and Fire Max 11 models (not in Kids mode).

Web Experience: How It Differs from Devices

Alexa+ on the browser is more text‑centric and is still missing some classic Alexa skills, especially in smart home and entertainment. This matters for users expecting full parity with their Echo speaker.

• Interaction mode: You can type to Alexa+ in the browser but cannot use your voice there; for voice, you must use an Echo, Fire TV, or the Alexa app.

• Feature gaps in Early Access: Music playback and Smart Home control are not supported in the browser version yet, although they remain available on compatible Alexa devices.

• Feedback loop: Users are encouraged to type “I have feedback” in the chat to help improve the Early Access experience.

Pricing, Availability, and Early Access

Alexa+ is being rolled out gradually in the US and tied closely to both device ownership and Amazon Prime membership. The pricing model is designed to make Alexa+ a value‑add for Prime subscribers.

• US customers with eligible Echo or Fire TV devices may get Alexa+ Early Access automatically over time.

• Buying a new eligible Echo, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet can provide earlier access when you set up the device.

• Free during the Early Access phase.
• After Early Access, Alexa+ will remain free for Prime members.
• Non‑Prime users will be able to subscribe to Alexa+ for 19.99 USD per month.
